On Monday morning of December 15th, the capital city of India, Delhi, woke up to a thick blanket of fog and engulfing the region, reducing the visibility to near zero. As a result, several flights were either delayed or cancelled. Additonally, some flights between the UAE and Delhi were also affected due to this. In fact, the UAE-based passengers who are travelling to Delhi have been advised to check the flight status before departing for the airport.
Flights Delayed Between The UAE And India’s Dubai
As revealed in a report of the Gulf News, several flights saw delays of up to two and half hours due to the thick fog blanketing the region. These included major carriers, such as IndiGo, flydubai, Emirates, and Air India Express. IndiGo, which had already been facing quite a bit of chaos, also ended up suffering some delays. However, the airline did cancel some domestic services to ensure there is safe operation throughout the day.
Several Carriers Were Affected By The Delays
Not only this, morning departures were hit due to the delays. Flight schedules at DXB showed disruption on Delhi-bound services. Yes, flydubai FZ 441, which was, for example, scheduled to depart at 5:05 AM, eventually departed at 7:46 AM. The service, which codeshares with Emirates EK 2124 had departed from Terminal 2. Another flight by Air India Express also experienced delays wherein the scheduled departure of 11:10 AM was pushed back to 2:30 PM. Not just in Dubai but Etihad Airways flight, which was scheduled to fly to Abu Dhabi, was also delayed due to visibility issues.

Airports In North India Have Impacted The Flight Schedules
Additionally, airports in North India are impacting the flight schedules. So passengers have been advised to check their flight status before they leave the airport in order to plan a seamless journey. At this point, it’s worth mentioning that no flights were cancelled from Dubai to Delhi. All the flights which have been affected have either been marked as departed or delayed, as revealed in the same report of the Gulf News. Since fog is a seasonal phenomenon, it typically disrupts operations during the winter months. This disruption has coincided with a busy travel period.
