The Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia has begun addressing the status of holders of expired visit visa, transit visa, and final exit permits. This is due to the disruption that prevented the departure due to the current regional conditions. Here’s what the ministry has said for such visa holders.
Saudi Arabia Allows Expired Visa Holders To Exit Without Fine
As revealed in a report of the Gulf News, the Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia has mentioned that the measures apply to visas, which expired from February 26, 2026. This would allow individuals who are affected to regularise their status under two options. These are as follows:
Through the first option, expired visa scan be extended upon request by the host until April 18, 2026. This is done after payment of the applicable fee through the app platform.
Under the second option, the holders can depart directly through international ports without there being a need to extend a visa or pay any fee or overstay fine.

The ministry, as mentioned in the report, with this move aims to facilitate procedures for visitors and residents who are affected by the situation. It ensures compliance with the regulation and also maintains a smooth travel operation across the borders of the kingdom.
The development comes at a time when Qatar also extended all entry visas under different categories for one month that were nearing expiration. This development came early in March and was effective from February 28th, 2026. Similarly, Kuwait also extended visas for one month. Additionally, they also granted three month absence permit for residents who were currently outside the country.
Coming back to Saudi Arabia, it recently streamlined the procedures for facilitating the departure of Umrah pilgrims. The authorities revealed the final deadline for visa holders to leave the kingdom as April 18th. Stressing how the overstay would result in penalties, which include fines, deportation, and imprisonment.
