On Sunday, the OceanGate submarine, which offers a tour of the drowned Titanic ship, went missing. With 5 people on board, the submarine lost contact. And it is still missing! The authorities carried out operations and started looking for this missing submarine. Recently, they detected a banging sound from the area where it disappeared. Here are the updates on the missing OceanGate submarine.
OceanGate Submarine: Searchers Detected A Banging Sound!
According to a Rolling Stone report, the Canadian aircraft that was searching for the missing OceanGate submarine detected a banging sound. As per the update from the Department of Homeland Security’s National Operations Center, the sound was received from the area where it disappeared.
RCC Halifax launched P8 which had the ability to detect objects underwater from air. The sonobuoys deployed reported contact with the distressed position. Every 30 minutes, the P8 could hear banging noises in the neighbourhood. Additional sonar was deployed four hours later, and thumping was still audible. However, there was no mention of the time or cause of the banging in the announcement that gave this information.

Through its partner organisations, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre is looking for a remotely operated underwater vehicle that could provide assistance. Both the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the Boston Coast Guard declined to comment on the alleged “banging” sounds.
Less Than 30 Hours Of Oxygen Left
One hour and 45 minutes into Sunday’s dive, the Titan reportedly lost touch with its support ship. Since the craft supposedly only had 96 hours’ worth of oxygen when it started its journey, a huge search and a race against time ensued.
According to a DHS official, the situation looked bleak and added that they thought the banging was coming from the craft. As per recent reports, the submarine has less than 30 hours of oxygen left!
In a statement, OceanGate stated that their entire focus is on the crew members in the submersible and their families. They further stated they are exploring and mobilising all options to bring the crew back safely.
