Just when the world finally started healing from COVID-19, Monkeypox hit the world. Monkeypox is actually a viral infection and it belongs to the same family as smallpox. A few patients got severely infected with this virus after they travelled and returned from a trip to a foreign land. Health officials in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are ramping up precautions to prevent the disease from spreading.Along with this, COVID is trying to invade again. So buckle up travellers!
Monkeypox Symptoms
Monkeypox is an uncommon disease distributed primarily by wild animals in central and western Africa. It spreads through sick wild animals, especially rodents like rats, mice, and squirrels. An animal bite or contact with the blood or body fluids of an animal might cause infection.
Main Symptoms Include-
- Fever, chills, swollen glands
- Muscle and Headache
- Shivering and Exhaustion
- The rash, which usually begins on the face and spreads to other areas of the body, is a secondary sign of monkeypox.
- The symptoms normally go away after two to four weeks.
Prevention
- The DHA recommended the following preventative measures:
- Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizers to keep them clean.
- Preventing the spread of disease from animals to humans
- Any encounter with wild animals should be specifically avoided.
- Cook the meat to perfection.
- Avoid any object that has come in contact with a sick animal should.
- Avoid human-to-human transmission

Isolation Period
On Sunday, the ministry laid out the isolation and quarantine protocols for affected people and their close contacts.Positive cases would undergo isolation in hospitals until they cure according to the authority..Close relatives and friends would require to sustain quarantine at home for at least 21 days.
The ministry stated that it will check the direct contacts’ care and ensure that they complied with the house isolation.
