Last month, butter boards took over the internet by storm. People loved this version of the charcuterie board very much. For the people who don’t know, butter boards are an elegant way of serving butter at get-togethers. While butter boards are trending everywhere, a Korean creator came up with her own version called rice board. What is a rice board? Let’s find out.

New Food Trend: Rice Board

Korean creator Soo-Jin Kim remixed the viral butter board video by Sam Schnur. The video has by far garnered more than 5 million views on Instagram and TikTok. She made a video of her own version of this spread. Kim said that she did not like the butter board trend but it did give her the idea to create her own platter of favourite foods. The rice board is made by spreading a bed of sticky sushi rice with slices of fried spam (pan-fried meat). She then added danmuji (Korean pickled radishes), sesame seeds (toasted), Mayo and Sriracha. It is scooped with sheets of nori.
