Books & Beach Saturday For Bibliophiles In Mumbai

In a world where everything is becoming digital and keeping eyes off the phone has become next to impossible, reading books is a luxury and a refreshing change! Mumbai Bookies are trying to revive this habit, one reading session at a time. This Saturday, instead of their usual park meetup in Churchgate, they are heading to a beach.

Taking Mumbai Bookies to the sea, the Beach Bookies session will take place on April 5. All you have to do is head to their Instagram page and fill up a form with all the essential details. Since the idea of this club is to give everyone space to read and enjoy the process, they send out limited invites. So, if you’re chosen to be a part of this session, you will be shared an invite with the location and time.

As we mentioned, Mumbai Bookies is a silent reading community. It is open to anyone who wants to come and read in silence. With the exception of this Saturday’s session, the usual book reading weekend sessions take place in a park in Churchgate on Saturdays. Everyone brings their own book, lounges at the park, and just reads together, from 8 AM to 10 AM. They also have a tea bun-maska ritual afterwards where the readers interact and get to know one another.

With each reading weekend, they wish to bring reading back to what it used to be, one reader at a time. They also have similar communities in Pune, Bengaluru, and Jaipur.
