Mumbai Metro: Glass Panel Fell On An Auto-rickshaw!

On Wednesday, a few yellow glass panels from the facade of the elevated Mandpeshwar IC Colony metro station crashed into an auto-rickshaw. However, no one was hurt. In reaction to the incident, the Mandpeshwar IC Colony metro station’s affected glass panels will be swiftly removed, according to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which implemented Metro lines 2A and 7.

The MMRDA has also started an investigation of the structural integrity of the glass panels at additional metro stations. Only three of the 17 metro stations on Line 2A that connect Dahisar East to Andheri East have a glass façade, according to the official.

The Contractor Will Replace Everything

The MMMOCL, the organisation responsible for the maintenance of the metro, replied by stating that the glass panel fell during the installation work. They further clarified that the staff had removed glass panels. They remarked that the area affected was a ‘no parking’ zone, yet, an auto was parked there.

The glass panels in question, as well as those at other stations, will be changed with louvres or other acceptable arrangements in accordance with MMRDA. The contractor will replace this part at no cost to themselves.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which is in charge of handling civil construction work for the elevated metro lines in MMR, hired the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to carry out the Mumbai Metro Line 2A project.

The yellow glass panels that fell were mounted on aluminium frames and were a part of the front of the metro building. Additional safety precautions are being put in place to stop tragedies like this one.
