The fine was levied due to negligence, which caused significant delays in the project’s progress, leaving commuters and stakeholders frustrated.

According to a recent report by The Free Press Journal, the MMRDA has held contractors accountable for the setbacks encountered during the structural and finishing stages of Phase 1 of Metro Line 2B. The authorities expressed their dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work and emphasised the importance of timely completion for public infrastructure projects.
