Metro Line 9: Double Decker Flyover Opens In Mumbai
According to an article which was recently published by The Economic Times or ET, the flyover was inaugurated on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. The flyover stretches across one kilometre and incorporates line 9 of the Mumbai metro.
It was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde. As per his statement cited in the ET article, the inauguration marked a significant milestone for the city as well as for the state. This project is touted to save time and fuel and is a testament to modern technology.
The flyover saves eight to ten minutes of travel time as well as fuel. In addition to this, it features modern amenities, signage and lighting. All of these comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway’s regulations.
Other Important Details That You Should Know About It
During the construction, the flyover faced a number of challenges. For instance, the main double-circuit Dahanu-Versova power line was relocated. It was moved about three kilometres and elevated to 75 metres which made it the second-highest power channel.
The Mumbai Metro Line 9 is an extension of the Red Line. This line connects Andheri to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport or CSMIA as well as Dahisar to Mira Road. The Mumbai Metro network is arguably the most highly anticipated infrastructure project in the city.
