Mumbai Metro 7 line is 16.5 km long and has 13 metro stations. A large number of commuters travel on this route every day. They have reported that since there is no bridge or pedestrian bridge connecting the western expressway, they have to take a long detour to come and go in the south-north section. Seeing this, the authorities have decided to connect the stations on the Western Expressway with a pedestrian bridge.

They have decided to construct 14 pedestrian bridges on this route. These bridges will be constructed in phases and the estimated cost of construction will be ₹210 crores. They have already released the tender for the construction of the first such bridge. It will connect the Western Expressway to the Akurli Metro station.
