Mumbai To Get Its First Made In India Driverless Metro On January 27

Mumbai could be in under-construction mode right now, but the future holds lots of exciting things for the Mumbaikars making their lives super easy. While Mumbai will have many new Metro routes in the coming years, the Metro connection between Ghatkopar to Versova has definitely made travel convenient. Taking things up a notch, Mumbai will now have an indigenously-manufactured driverless train on its new route between Dahisar and DN Nagar.

The Train Will Arrive on January 27

Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde made the announcement that the train will arrive on January 27. The driverless train is manufactured by Bharat Earth Movers Ltd in Bengaluru and will reach Mumbai’s Charkop Metro Carshed on January 27, 2021. After the operational tests, the manufacturers will deploy the train on the two new Metro routes scheduled to start operations from May this year.

The Train Will Run From Dahisar To Andheri

The driverless train will run automatically. However, in the first few months a motormon will operate it to ensure commuters feel safe. The trains will have a maximum speed limit of 80kmph and will run on the Metro 2A Dahisar to DN Nagar and Metro 7 Dahisar to Andheri East.
