Special Missi Roti Recipe By Sunanda Sharma
Sunday Brunch episodes by Curly Tales are not just about getting to know a celebrity’s life, but also about learning about their food choices and special recipes. For the latest segment, Sunanda Sharma shared with our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, that she loved her mom’s cooking and only likes to eat food made by her, like yellow dal, roti, chutneys and more.
Talking about her cooking, Sunanda said that she can cook everything except non-vegetarian food. Her special Missi Roti deserves special attention as it is made in pure Punjabi style. Fortunately, she also shared the recipe with us, and here’s how you can make it.
Ingredients To Make Sunanda’s Special Missi Roti:
- Besan and atta
- Sukha dhaniya
- Hara dhaniya
- Salt
- Grated ginger
- Fresh methi
- Ghee
To make Missi Roti, mix everything in a large bowl, add oil and knead it into a soft dough. But here comes the twist. Instead of cooking it normally on a tawa, Sunanda Sharma puts the tawa upside down on the flame, splashes some water and then cooks the roti on it for a tandoori-style flavour. You can cook your roti normally or follow Sunanda’s style. After your Missi Roti is cooked, put it on a plate, drizzle some ghee and enjoy it with white butter, dahi, achaar and green chillies.
Singer Talks About Her Favourite Comfort Foods
Missi Rotis are an absolute comfort food and can be enjoyed for breakfast with tea, lunch and even dinner. Talking about comfort food, Sunanda Sharma shared that she loves home-cooked food, especially Aloo Katli, which is thinly sliced potatoes made with several spices in mustard oil. She usually enjoyed them with paranthas. Yellow dal is also something Sunanda loves to eat.
For brunch, Sunanda served Kamiya a hearty meal of Dahi Tadka with rice, while she talked about her life journey, her bond with her mother, her career and the reason why she likes to spend time in Mumbai.
