Monsoons have arrived in Maharashtra, and Mumbai is facing heavy downpour. With torrential rains across the city, several flights to Mumbai are being delayed or cancelled. In fact, flights between the UAE and Mumbai are also affected. This is because the rains have disrupted operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, due to which airlines have issued an advisory to passengers regarding flight status.

UAE-Mumbai Flights Affected Due To Monsoon Downpour

As Mumbai reels under heavy rain for several consecutive days, flights from the UAE to the financial capital of India stand affected. Airlines have issued an advisory for passengers, asking them to check the flight status before departing for the airport. Due to waterlogging across parts of the city, road traffic and air travel stand affected.

Several Flights Delayed From The UAE

Several flights from the UAE to the financial capital of India stand affected. Flights from Dubai to Mumbai were delayed on Monday, July 6th evening. An IndiGo flight 6E1456, which was supposed to depart from Dubai at 7:55 PM was delayed by an hour, and the revised departure time was 8:50 PM, as revealed in a report of the Gulf News, which quoted the live flight information by Dubai Airport.

Another airline, SpiceJet, and its flight SG5114, which had to leave at 11:40 PM, was delayed by about three hours and was expected to depart at 2:40 AM. Emirates flight EK500, which was scheduled to depart at 9:40 PM, was on time. However, the flight EK503, which was arriving from Mumbai at 9 PM was delayed. Overall, flights on the route are seeing a delay of about one hour.

Airlines have, as a result, issued an advisory for those travelling to Mumbai. Passengers have been asked to check the status of the flights before they leave for the airport. Several flights arriving and departing from the domestic and international airports were cancelled on Monday, July 6th. Due to the heavy downpour, flight operations remain affected at the Mumbai airport, where flights were also diverted to alternate airports.

Monsoon Rains Lash Mumbai

The annual monsoon season is here in Mumbai, and it typically runs from June to September. The downpour on July 6th was so severe that several flight schedules were disrupted. In fact, a popular expressway had also been shut due to the heavy downpour and landslides; several schools and colleges have been closed in Mumbai, and IMD has declared an orange alert in the city. In fact, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman asked its citizens in the Indian city to exercise extreme, causing as heavy rainfall continued. They advised citizens to avoid travel until absolutely necessary and closely monitor better forecasts and alerts by the local authorities
