Are Mumbaikars Unaware Of RailOne? Woman Caught Ticketless Blames UTS App Failure In Video

Mumbai’s railway ticketing system has always had two sides. On one side, people stand in long queues at ticket counters, while on the other, travellers quickly book tickets online using the UTS app. Now, the system has been moved to the RailOne app. But are commuters actually aware of this change? One traveller even used it as an excuse for not buying a ticket. Here’s all you need to know!

Viral Video Shows Travellers Not Aware Of RailOne In Mumbai

In a video shared by The Nalanda Index (@Nalanda_index), a woman can be seen getting caught at a Mumbai railway station for travelling without a ticket. After being stopped, she blamed the UTS app, claiming it was not working. When the ticket collector tried to stop her, she lashed out, saying it was not her problem if the app wasn’t functioning. The TC also did not correct her about the UTS app being moved to RailOne.

According to The Nalanda Index, the woman deliberately travelled without a ticket. The X user also urged authorities to take strict action against the incident. However, the situation raises another question, even though the change happened around 10 days ago, are commuters actually not aware that ticketing has shifted to RailOne?

Netizens React To The Video

The video has gone viral across social media, and it’s not just this woman traveller; other people say they were unaware of this change.

One user wrote, “Seriously, I wasn’t even aware that UTS had moved to RailOne until I reached the station. Was this announced somewhere, or were people informed about it?”

Another user added, “Fare evasion is too common, and honest passengers end up paying the price. This isn’t just about one person — it shows weak enforcement and systemic gaps. Indian Railways must strengthen checks and impose strict penalties.”

A third user commented, “The UTS app excuse is the new ‘the dog ate my homework.’ If you have time to argue with the TC for 10 minutes, you had time to check the app status before boarding. Acting like a victim after getting caught isn’t confusion — it’s a strategy. Pay the fine and move on.”
