Mumbaikars, you may face extensive traffic restrictions and diversions across the city as French President Emmanuel Macron meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mumbai today. In view of the visit, the Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory warning of congestion, road closures, and diversions in several areas. Here’s what you need to know.
Emmanuel Macron Arrives In Mumbai
According to Hindustan Times, in the early hours of Tuesday, Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron arrived in Mumbai. The French President will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the India-France Year of Innovation (IFYI) 2026 event, which will be held at the Gateway of Mumbai.
They are also scheduled to hold a high-level meeting around 3:15 PM at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai. Later in the evening, IFYI 2026 will be inaugurated at around 5 PM, with business leaders, start-ups, researchers, and innovators from both countries in attendance. Keeping these high profile events and meetings in mind, the Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for commuters.

What Roads Are Closed & What Restrictions Have Been Issued?

To begin with, a 13-hour ban on heavy motor vehicles on the Western Express Highway has been imposed till 9 PM on Tuesday. Trucks, trailers and other heavy vehicles will not be allowed on both carriageways between Vakola flyover and Dahisar Toll Naka, HT reported.
In south Mumbai, two key stretches will remain closed to all vehicles from 2 PM to 9 PM—Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk (Regal Junction) and P Ramchandani Marg from Alva Chowk (North Court) to Adam Street Junction. However, traffic will be diverted via alternate routes. Commuters have been advised to use Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg, Mahakavi Bhushan Road, and B K Boman Behram Road instead. Taxi stands and BEST bus stops along P Ramchandani Marg and Adam Street will also remain shut during the restricted hours.
Additionally, the stretch from Jokhim Alva Chowk to Adam Street Junction will be closed to all vehicular movement, except emergency vehicles. Motorists can travel from Alva Chowk to Radio Club via P Ramchandani Marg, Haji Niyaz Azmi Road, and Jagannath Palav Chowk (Bhid Bhajan Temple), then take a right towards Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg, continue to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk, and loop back via Mahakavi Bhushan Marg.
No-parking restrictions will also be enforced on Nathalal Parekh Road, Jagannath Bhosle Road, Captain Prakash Pethe Road, Rambhau Salgaonkar Road, Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, and B K Boman Behram Road. Moreover, the stretch behind The Taj Mahal Palace from Raobahadur Desai Chowk to Hotel Diplomat has been declared a no-parking zone.
