Why Did Nawazuddin Siddiqui Call His Home A ‘Langar’?

When Kamiya asked about an interview she watched of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, where he said that during struggling days, Rajpal Yadav’s house used to be like a Langar for all the strugglers. Recalling the incident, Rajpal said, “Woh hum sabka ghar tha, kehne ke liye vo Nawaz bhai ka baddapan hai.” He further revealed that there were 10-15 boys, and the place had 2-4 rooms in Banrahi. He also recalled the times and said, “Believe me, I am very lucky to have that house. But the 10-15 boys who came to shoot, to work, and to live – today those boys are doing a good job in our film industry, from television and films to OTT and in different fields.”

He also said that everyone was fond of eating together, so all of them used to cook together. “I was fond of eating and cooking too.” He also said that there always used to be a group of people sitting somewhere together. He added, “So Nawaz Bhai said that it is the Langar of Rajpal’s house, but it was the Langar of all 15 of us.” I think because of their luck, I used to get it too.”

Hearing the story, Kamiya asked if he used to cook food for everyone. To which Rajpal Yadav said, “No, there were 2-4 boys; some used to cut vegetables, some used to make lentils, and some used to wash utensils.” He also said that the coordination was very good among the boys. He recalled how they used to end their days, “no matter what happened to anyone during the day in the struggle, but in the evening, everyone used to try to eat together so that 10-15 boys could all eat together. By making the situation of the day into a story and preparing yourself for tomorrow’s story,” he concluded.
