The government has tightened guidelines in Mumbai due to the surge in cases and prevent the spread of the new variant. The BMC will now keep an eye on violators who are subjected to home quarantine. Besides, the BMC is also appointing 300 marshals to monitor those travelling without masks in trains. Apart from that, additional marshals will be hired to keep an eye on violators in Mumbai.
Hefty Fines & Imprisonment For Those Violating Rules
The BMC also said that if five or more people were found positive in a building, it would be sealed. Wedding halls and restaurants will also be raided to check if people are flouting rules. Family of COVID positive patients could face a hefty fine and up to six months imprisonment if they are found violating the home quarantine rules.

BMC To Increase Testing In Containment Zones
