Road travel in Mumbai is about to get smoother. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is going to extend the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) in an attempt to reduce traffic on the road. This extension will connect to Kurla and will reduce the time taken to travel here. This means that soon, travelling to Kurla by road is going to be much easier than it used to be. This will greatly help motorists.
BMC To Extend SCLR
The BMC of Mumbai is all set to extend the link road to Kurla in order to reduce traffic and the time taken to travel to this place. The two points of connection for this extension will be the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) and the Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) road in Kurla.
This entire ordeal will cost the BMC a whopping ₹29.99 crore. The work for this flyover will take about two years to finish and when it does, it is hoped that there will be significantly less traffic congestion.
According to the officials, this flyover will reduce travel time as it will help avoid at least three signals. One at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) junction, the second at the BKC and Central Salsette Tramway (CST) road junction. The third signal that motorists will be able to avoid is the one at the LBS road junction. This will make travelling by road significantly faster.

Structure Of The Connection
As per the reports, the connecter will consist of a viaduct portion with a superstructure that is made out of steel. It will also have Pile foundation which will include a solid ramp that is substantially reinforced with an earth wall.
The flyover extension will be extremely helpful in relieving traffic in northbound vehicles. However, for motorists who travel on southbound roadways, things will be the same. As the work for the metro is still ongoing, the BMC cannot construct similar facilities for southbound vehicles.
