The Western Railway will start renovating and reconstructing Mumbai’s Charni road station in May. With the increase in population, passengers, and traffic, revamping is the way to resolve the issues and make the amenities convenient for every passenger. Read on to know more:
Upgradation Of Mumbai’s Charni Road Station:
- Starting next month, this station is going to get a makeover of an estimated ₹2.53 crore.
- The station building will be refurbished with amenities like footover bridges, elevators, and ramps.
- This project will also focus on the reconstruction of the station master’s office, chief booking supervisors office, railway ticketing windows, railway booking office, and booking store.

Sumit Thakur, chief public relations officer, Western Railway said, as reported by MSN, “The designs are final and we will soon begin the redevelopment of the Charni Road railway station.”
Meanwhile, the Western Railway will also revamp the Dadar and Grant Road railway stations along with Charni Road Station. The footover Bridges, elevators, ramps, and skywalks are the key focus of the entire project in order to ease the crowd of the suburban railway stations.

In addition to the Western Railway, the Central Railway is also working towards the reconstruction of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). They will start the refurbishment of the terminus’ building this year itself. Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC) is working on the redevelopment of a total of 19 suburban railway stations.
