And while the BMC has been sealing buildings to prevent further spread of the disease, many in the city are seen flouting the COVID-19 norms. Despite several warnings by the BMC and the government, the Dadar market saw a huge crowd gathering to buy daily essentials. The behaviour of the city can force the government to impose another lockdown.
Social Distancing Norms Gone For A Toss In Dadar Market
Following the surge in COVID-19 cases, the government has imposed lockdowns and night curfew, to contain the spread. And while the Maharashtra government repeatedly appealed to adherer to the preventive measures, the social distancing norms clearly went for a toss in the Dadar market. The Chief Minister also warned of another lockdown. Last year, BMC Shifted Dadar Market To 4 Different Locations To Ensure Social Distancing.

The Rising Cases Of COVID Is A Warning For Another Lockdown
Mumbai has been reporting close to 2000 cases in the last few days. Besides, Maharashtra recorded 2021’s highest one-day spike of 16,620 new COVID cases. This significantly increased the total caseload of the state to 23 lakhs. Reduced tracing and lack of COVID-appropriate behaviours have led to the surge in active cases. This is a very crucial time for Maharashtra. We cannot afford to take the virus for granted if we are to remain COVID-free.
