Just when we thought that we were out of the COVID spell of 2020, the increase in the number of the mutant has forced the Government to impose new curfews and lockdowns. Amid spurt in the novel coronavirus cases, the Tamil Nadu government extended lockdown in the state till March 31. The state government has instructed authorities to enforce strict Covid-19 norms to curb virus spread. Earlier, the lockdown was imposed till February 28, 2021.

Tamil Nadu To Impose Section 144 Till March 31

The order says that the administration should strictly enforce measures to prevent Covid-19 and use provisions of Section 144 as far as possible. All passengers travelling by trains, air travel, and even guests at hotels and restaurants; shopping malls, entertainment parks should adhere to the SOPs. Tamil Nadu Becomes First State To Allow 100 Percent Seating Capacity In Theatres.

Pune Extended Night Curfew Till March 14

In view of the spike in COVID-19 cases Pune has extended the night curfew and shutdown of schools till March 14. All essential services are exempted from the curfew. As per the new order, schools, colleges, and private coaching classes have to remain closed till March 14. During the night curfew, no public movement except essential services will be allowed between 11 pm and 6 am. Kerala, Maharashtra & Telangana Have 2 New COVID-19 Variants.

In Pune, the total number of active cases is close to 10,000. While the government is doing its bit, let us ensure that we wear masks and follow social distancing to prevent a second wave of the disease.
