Bengalurueans, we have some important news for you. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is all set to put an end to the usage of Smart Cards and discontinue its services. By deciding to phase out and replace this system, the concerned authorities are now working to boost the usage of the National Common Mobility Cards among commuters.

There are some significant reasons behind deciding to phase out contactless smart cards in the upcoming days. Firstly, these cards cannot be used for various purposes. Passengers can use these closed-loop cards only for travelling in the metro services in the Karnataka capital, according to a report by Money Control. Secondly, carrying more cards and using them for different purposes is not convenient.

On the other hand, commuters using National Common Mobility Cards can avail of multiple services; from using the Namma metro to use transportation all around the country to a lot more. Not just this, users can also use this card at stores for shopping and more. These are open-loop cards and that’s why can be used for various reasons. The main aim of making this replacement is to stop the use of several cards and promote a single card that can help in providing different facilities, according to a report by The Financial Express.

Bengaluru Metro is encouraging people to start using this interoperable transport card. Using this, commuters can get to enjoy a hassle-free experience with customers at different transport facilities nationwide. This EMV-based card is a great solution to stop the system of carrying different cards for different reasons. One card is enough to use at several times; be it for transportation or shopping.

Bengaluru metro is now opening Customer Service Centers from 8 AM to 11 Am and 5 PM to 8 PM from 21 August onwards. To boost the National Common Mobility Cards, these are available at all the Namma metro stations.
