The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) have opened up their transport data. This change will allow Namma Yatri and Tummoc users to plan first and last-mile connectivity with ease. The new update was also shared by Priyank Kharge, Minister of Rural Development of Karnataka, on his official X account.
As per The Hindu, users will also be able to plan and book their entire journey under a single ticket. The apps will now use real-time data from both buses and metro trains running on the commuter’s route to create a coordinated travel plan. This will help commuters quickly switch between modes of public transport without long waits, saving both time and effort.

Winners Of The ‘Enroute Challenge’
According to Deccan Herald, these new features are powered by the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS), a globally recognised open data standard for public transport. The shared data includes stops, routes, trips, and timings from BMTC and BMRCL.
Moreover, this initiative was part of the ‘Enroute Challenge’, a 3-month competition aimed at improving Bengaluru’s public transport system. It brought together 6 startups and was organised by Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India in collaboration with the World Resources Institute India (WRI) and Villgro.
In August 2024, Tummoc and Namma Yatri were announced as the winners of the Enroute Challenge. Shan MS, Co-founder and COO of Namma Yatri, told Deccan Herald that this multi-modal launch will make trip planning easier by letting users manage everything on one app, from start to finish.
