The One-Of-Its-Kind Garh Ganesh Temple In Jaipur

Nestled near Nahargarh Fort and Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur, Garh Ganesh Temple is one of the most unique Ganpati temples in the world! This 18th-century temple is the only one in the world where you will find a Ganesh idol without a trunk. As per Wikipedia, the temple was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II before laying the foundation stone of Jaipur. He performed an Ashwamegha Yagya and made this shrine. He envisioned the temple to be home to the child Lord Ganesh and therefore decided to install a Ganesh idol without a trunk.

The small child form of Lord Ganesh at Garh Ganesh Temple is known as Purushakriti. The Maharaja also instructed the architects to place the idol of Ganesh in such a way that he could see it with the help of binoculars from the Chandra Mahal of City Palace, Jaipur.

Located on top of the Aravalli Hills, Garh Ganesh Temple also has idols of Riddhi and Siddhi, Lord Ganesh’s wives. Along with that, you can also find idols of his two children, Subh and Labh in this temple.
