In case you didn’t know, the skies of Chennai have a special guest visiting them these days! Since Wednesday, May 8, the International Space Station or ISS has been visible to the naked eye in the night skies of Chennai. Since this unique phenomenon does not occur every day, people were quite excited to witness it. Many people took to social media and shared stunning visuals of the ISS appearing in the night skies.
Stunning Visuals Of International Space Station In Chennai Sky
According to an article which was published by the Hindustan Times or HT, the ISS was visible in the Chennai sky for as long as seven minutes. The people of Chennai could see the space station from 7:09 PM.
Many people took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared videos and pictures they took of this rare occurrence. The event stunned space enthusiasts and stargazers alike. The space station appeared in Chennai sky as a tiny shiny star that moved quite quickly.
Although to some it may seem not worth the hype, it was a thrilling spectacle for those who have a penchant for space and whose heads are always in the cloud.
Missed It? Don’t Worry! Here Is When You Can Spot It Next
If you wanted to witness this phenomenon as well but, for whatever reason, missed it, fret not! You can still catch it! This phenomenon will keep gracing the Chennai sky till May 23! Today, it appeared in the wee hours at 5:02 AM and was visible for six minutes.
If you want to catch it next, it will appear again on May 12 at 4:14 AM for a total of four minutes! It will appear again at 7:08 PM and will again be visible for four minutes. If you want a clearer view, don’t forget to get your binoculars!
