It’s New Year’s Eve and that means partying all night with your friends and loved ones! It also means getting stuck in traffic for endless hours if you don’t plan well. So, to make sure you have a smooth and hassle-free celebration, we have listed down traffic advisories and restrictions issued in metro cities. Make sure you stay updated and have a good time.

New Year’s Eve Traffic Advisories For Metro Cities

1. Delhi

According to the Hindustan Times, Delhi Traffic Police will deploy around 2,500 personnel across the city, especially around Connaught Place, India Gate, and Hauz Khas. 11 CAPF companies and 40 motorcycle patrol teams have been deployed to ensure smooth movement of vehicles in Delhi on New Year’s Eve. Also, to ease overcrowding, exit from Rajiv Chowk Metro Station will not be allowed after 9 PM. However, entry into the station would be allowed.

2. Mumbai

The Mumbai Police issued a comprehensive security and traffic advisory to ensure safe New Year’s Eve celebrations. More than 15,000 personnel will be stationed across key locations in the city. Parking facilities will not be available in areas under the Colaba and Marine Drive Traffic Division. The Mumbai Coastal Road will remain open for vehicular traffic from 11 PM on December 31 to 11 PM on January 1, 2025. People have been urged to rely on public transport on New Year’s Eve to avoid traffic and congestion.

3. Bengaluru

With as many as 11,000 personnel deployed, the Bengaluru City Police has issued an extensive advisory and arrangement ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations today. According to Mint, the Police have set the New Year celebrations’ deadline only until 1 AM. All vehicle movement will be prohibited from 8 PM on December 31 to 2 AM on January 1 on MG Road, Brigade Road, and Church Street.

4. Hyderabad

A detailed New Year’s Eve traffic advisory has been issued for Hyderabad as well. As per IndiaTV News, All flyovers, except Begumpet and Tolichowki, will be closed between December 31 night and January 1 morning. Also, heavy goods and passenger vehicle entry is prohibited in Hyderabad city from 10 PM on December 31 to 2 AM on January 1. These vehicles, however, can use the Outer Ring Road.

5. Kolkata

In Kolkata, traffic restrictions have been put in place around Park Street, Shakespeare Sarani, Indian Museum, Victoria Memorial, Birla Planetarium, Alipore Zoo, Paresh Nath Temple, Kali Temple at Kalighat, and Thanthania Kalibari. Around 4,500 police personnel will be stationed on the roads to ensure smooth traffic flow on New Year’s Eve. Additionally, Kolkata Metro will run six additional services on the north-south corridor today.
