ECA International, a software company based in London, recently released the ranking of the most expensive cities to live in as an expat. The rankings were released as part of their cost of living index for the year 2023. This index is released every year with updated data. Last year, Hong Kong was at the top of the list. This year, however, New York City is the most expensive city in the world to live in for expats.
New York City Is The Most Expensive City To Live In For Expats
It’s probably not a huge surprise for the people who live there as they are aware of the ground reality of the city. Nevertheless, New York City is the most expensive city in the world to live in. Last year it was the second most expensive city in the world but this year, it has managed to defeat Hong Kong and claim the title for itself.
Hong Kong has now been relegated to the second position. Geneva and London have managed to retain their position as the third and fourth most expensive cities in the world. This is not the only Swiss city on the list. Zurich has also been featured in the list.
Last year, Zurich was placed at the 7th rank on the list. But this year, it has managed to climb up a notch and is now the sixth most expensive city in the world.
