It seems like road trips from April are going to get more expensive. According to reports, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will be levying 5-10% more toll fees on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway from April 1. Light vehicles are likely to be charged an additional 5% toll fee per trip. Whereas, the revised toll rate for heavy vehicles is expected to increase by 10%. The NHAI plans to increase the toll price on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway from April 1. This move will impact thousands of commuters who travel via the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway. For now, the toll tax on this expressway is ₹2.19 per kilometre. Seeing that the expressway is 135 kilometres long, this surge will increase the travel expense on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway considerably.

As per reports, the NHAI plans to increase the toll charges for lightweight vehicles by 5%. Whereas, they plan to increase the toll fee for heavy vehicles like commercial trucks by 10%. This surge is aimed to generate additional revenue for infrastructure development and maintenance of this expressway.

Revised Toll Charges On This Route

The expressway has six entry/exit points at Sarai Kale Khan, Indirapuram, Vijay Nagar, Dasna, Rasulpur Sikrod, and Bhojpur. The main toll plaza on this expressway is located at Kashi in Meerut. The current toll price for a car trip from Meerut to Sarai Kale Khan is ₹160 for light vehicles. For light vehicles, this charge is around ₹250. With the price hike in April, this will go up to ₹168 and ₹262.5 for car and light vehicles, respectively.
