Thane residents, take note! The Majiwada Flyover closure has been announced due to construction work related to the ongoing Mumbai Metro Line 5 project. The flyover will remain closed daily from 10 pm to 5 am, starting April 5, 2025, and ending April 20, 2025.
The Thane Traffic Department has urged commuters to plan their journeys to avoid nighttime congestion. The closure is expected to impact those travelling late at night or in the early hours of the morning, particularly night-shift workers and emergency services.
Majiwada Flyover Closure
The Majiwada Flyover closure is part of the critical metro station construction work associated with Mumbai Metro Line 5, which aims to enhance urban transport across the region. While the long-term benefits of the metro expansion are promising, the current work has created temporary traffic challenges for locals.

Suggested Alternate Routes During Closure
To minimise disruption, the Thane Traffic Police have recommended using the Eastern Express Highway and Ghodbunder Road as alternative travel routes. In addition, motorists can opt for the service road near Jupiter Hospital and Golden Park during the restricted hours. However, increased traffic volumes on these routes are expected, and longer travel times may be inevitable. Commuters are urged to factor in extra time for their journeys during the 15 days.
Stay Updated & Travel Smart
With the Majiwada Flyover closure in effect nightly, staying updated on live traffic conditions is crucial. Thane locals are encouraged to follow the official Thane Traffic Police social media channels for real-time updates and diversions.
Whether you’re heading home late or starting your day early, plan ahead, stay informed, and drive safe. The metro progress may slow you down for now, but it’s all part of building a smoother future.
