The Nipah virus is wreaking havoc in some parts of Kerala. Due to the outbreak of the deadly zoonotic virus, two people have already lost their lives in Kerala’s Kozhikode. This is scary for the Kozhikode city and the state as well. The sudden outbreak of the virus can turn out to be a massive trouble and health risk not only for residents but also for tourists visiting there.

Kerala Government Took Action To Control The Life-Threatening Situation

The Kerala government made the announcement of a few rules and guidelines on Wednesday. This latest development has issued a total of seven village panchayats in Kozhikode as containment zones, according to a report by Business Today.

A. Geetha, the Kozhikode District Collector has shared the names of the village panchayats that are now containment zones.

  • Atanchery
  • Kavilumpara
  • Kuttiyadi
  • Maruthonkara
  • Tiruvallur
  • Villyapalli

People are not allowed to enter or exit from these places. In fact, residents are advised to wear face masks, use sanitisers, keep their hands clean, and also follow social distancing.

What Is Going To Happen To Tourists In Kozhikode & Other Parts Of Kerala?

The outbreak of the Nipah virus is surely a terrifying and scary time for everyone. The zootonic virus can take away people’s lives and the recent two deaths have grown the fear to a huge extent. In such times, both locals and tourists need to be careful and follow all the rules to stay safe and keep others safe too. The Kozhikode District Tourism Promotion Council mentioned some crucial points to follow. The tourism information officer of this council shared a set of guidelines that are important to keep in mind in these terrifying times.

  • As discussed before, everyone needs to wear masks.
  • Since there are no restrictions on tourist attractions and destinations, visitors can explore those places.
  • They should not visit the places falling under the containment zones, according to a report by Onmanorama.
  • Many events have been postponed due to the Nipah virus outbreak. It is better to stay updated about the changes in dates and plans of events in Kozhikode
