NMMT Buses To Run On MTHL From Next Week; Travel Free For People Above 65 Yrs

The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link or the MTHL was a highly anticipated infrastructure project which was recently inaugurated in the Financial Capital of the country. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport or the NMMT buses will begin operations on MTHL from next week onwards. Travel on NMMT is free for people who are over the age of 65. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this new transport update.

According to an article which was recently published by the Free Press Journal or FPJ, NMMT buses will start plying on the MTHL from the next week. As per the article, the route of the bus number 115 will be changed.

Initially, its route was from Kharkopar to the World Trade Centre. Now, it will ply between Nerul and Mantralaya. The fares, as per an official cited in the article, are to remain the same. This means that the fare for this new route, which stretches across 52 kilometres, will be ₹90.

The NMMT offers an intricate network of bus connectivity across the satellite city. With the help of the MTHL, it will be able to extend its services to the main city as well.

As of now, the NMMT operates more than 560 buses on as many as 74 routes. On average, around 1.80 lakh passengers travel daily via the bus services provided by the NMMT. It also operates in regions like Thane, Kalyan, Dombivli, Khopoli and Uran.

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation or the MSRTC earlier bus travel free for citizens over the age of 75 years. The NMMT took this initiative one step further and made travel free for people over the age of 65 years. All these people have to do is produce proof of age and residence in the NMMC area.
