No COVID-19 Test Required To Enter China Anymore As Country Eliminates Pre-Entry Restrictions

Travellers, here is some good news for you! Now you no longer need a COVID-19 test to enter China. Yes, you read that right! The country has now eliminated pre-entry restrictions for travellers. An official announcement has made it clear that travellers will not need to provide COVID-19 test certificates. This decision will surely boost the country’s economic and tourism industries.

China’s spokesperson Wang Wenbin in an official announcement stated that no COVID-19 tests are required to enter the country after August 30. This move will streamline the process for people entering the country.

This move will not only enhance convenience for travellers but also restore normalcy to travel procedures in China. This development perfectly fits with the government’s overarching goals of revitalising the Chinese economy and the travel sector, as well as its related industries.

Even though significant attempts were made to expand international flights, including agreements like the one between China and the United States to promote round-trip flights, the pre-pandemic era’s level of traveller activity has yet to return.

The pandemic’s aftermath has been proven to have made travellers reluctant to travel overseas, which has had a negative impact on China’s inbound tourist business.

A Rise In Popularity For Less Known Spots

Chinese visitors’ concerns about safety have become a significant barrier to their consideration of overseas travel. According to a study conducted in April, a startling 58 per cent of respondents had reconsidered their plans to travel outside of mainland China in 2023 due to worries about unwelcoming receptions, health risks, visa issues, and increased costs.

Additionally, domestic tourism has flourished as China’s economy slowly recovers. Domestic air travel has increased dramatically as a result of the loosening of COVID-19-related limitations, and officials expect the travel industry to generate significant money this year.

A rise in popularity has been observed for less well-known locations outside of large cities. This includes Chengdu, Kunming, Hangzhou, Xian, and Urumqi.
