Women-Only Pink-Parks In Delhi
In order to come up with more comfortable spaces for women in Delhi, the city will soon have women-only parks. The idea of coming up with women-only pink-park in Delhi was introduced by Delhi Deputy Mayor Aaley Mohammad Iqbal.
Apart from providing several other amenities, this park will be a comfortable space for women. He said that this idea was taken up in a meeting with Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He spoke about the benefits of a pink park in his ward, Chandni Mahal. He also proposed that such parks be opened in all the wards across the city.
He said that the Chief Minister was intrigued by his suggestion, and that he later suggested that each ward have at least one park of this type during a meeting of the civic organisation’s horticulture department.

Identifying Parks For Conversion
In addition, Mr. Iqbal revealed that a “pink park” was established on Mata Sundari Road as a pilot project, where ladies and children up to the age of 10 were welcome to visit. To provide the ladies with a comfortable outdoor environment, a similar model would also be implemented in other wards. These “pink parks” will be furnished with CCTV cameras, restrooms, wall graffiti, and gym facilities.
All the councillors from their respective wards will identify and select one park that will be converted into a pink-park. Many councillors have already begun the work of identifying it in their respective MCD wards.
The vision of this initiative is to provide safer and better places for women. Iqbal said that everyone should come forward to achieve it. (As per The Times Of India)
