Thailand is set to relax its rigorous alcohol laws by allowing restricted sales during Buddhist holidays. Thailand’s Alcohol Ban Policy: What’s Changing?

Thailand has traditionally banned the sale of alcohol on major Buddhist holidays, and tourists have sometimes been surprised by closed bars and restaurants. The government now intends to allow alcohol sales in certain areas, including hotels, event spaces, and officially designated tourism areas.

According to Hindustan Times, Deputy Prime Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong confirmed that the bill is open for public consideration for 15 days. After that, it will need approval from the Minister of Health and the Prime Minister to become a law. Such changes are designed to make Thailand more tourist-friendly without detracting from cultural traditions.
