Noida Metro’s Aqua Line Proposes Extension To DMRC’s Botanical Garden; Details Here

Noida Metro

Delhi Metro, hailed as one of India’s most successful urban transportation projects, has significantly transformed the connectivity and urban landscape of the National Capital Region (NCR). But Aqua Line route of Noida Metro connects Noida and Greater Noida to the Delhi Metro. However, there are certain issues with this connectivity to the Blue Line of Delhi Metro.

Aqua Line To Botanical Garden

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has filed a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the Noida and Greater Noida authorities for in-principle clearance to extend the existing Aqua Line Metro line from Sector 142 to Botanical Garden.

Greater Noida and Noida are currently linked to the Delhi Metro via the Noida Metro’s 29.7 km Aqua Line. However, the connection to the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line, which enters through Mayur Vihar and finishes at the Electronic City Metro station in Sector 62, is not flawless. The new 11.56km route would improve connectivity and bring Metro closer to the future Noida International Airport in Jewar.

The project would include eight stations:

The route will terminate at the present Noida Sector 142 station. Botanical Garden will act as a transfer point between the NMRC’s Aqua Line and the Delhi Metro’s Magenta and Blue Lines. It will be 11.56 kilometres long in all. Commuters commuting from Noida-Greater Noida to Delhi will benefit from this project. Residents of Noida and Greater Noida could have easier access thanks to this project, which will also connect them to the Delhi Metro system. Connecting the Metro to the airport is a top objective for both the Delhi Metro and the Uttar Pradesh government.

In addition, the Botanical Garden station acts as the first interchange station in the NCR, connecting commuters to the Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden corridor and the Blue Line (which runs from Noida City Centre to Dwarka Sector 21). The expansion of the Delhi Metro into Noida was a strategic move to address the increasing population and economic activities.

The introduction and expansion of metro lines in Noida and Delhi have had a profound impact on connectivity in the NCR. Commuters now have a reliable and time-efficient mode of transport that connects distant corners of the city. The metro lines have become the lifeline for daily commuters, offering a respite from the challenges of road congestion and vehicular pollution.

The integration of Noida with the Delhi Metro network has also strengthened the economic ties between the two regions. Businesses in Noida now have a wider pool of talent to tap into, as employees can easily commute from Delhi and other parts of the NCR. Additionally, the improved connectivity has spurred real estate development along metro corridors, making these areas attractive for both residential and commercial purposes.

The proposed extension of  Noida Metro project envisions extending existing lines and introducing new corridors to further enhance connectivity within the city in Delhi.
