According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), Delhi-NCR experienced a magnitude 4.0 earthquake on Monday morning. According to the NCS update, the earthquake occurred in New Delhi at a depth of five kilometres around 5.36 AM. Its effects were felt in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram.

As per NDTV, the epicentre of this earthquake was near Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in Dhaula Kuan. Reportedly, the region has a lake nearby and has been experiencing smaller, low-magnitude quakes once every two to three years. Back in 2015, the area recorded an earthquake of 3.3 magnitude.

While the magnitude of the earthquake that hit Delhi was low, many people on social media claimed that they felt strong tremors. This is because the epicentre of the earthquake was in the city itself, which caused tremors bigger than ever.

A few hours after Delhi’s earthquake, another one hit Bihar’s Siwan. As per NCS, the earthquake was also of magnitude 4 on the Richter Scale and occurred around 8 AM on Monday. It occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres at a latitude of 25.93 North and longitude of 84.42 East.

Just last month, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake shook Nepal and the tremors were strongly felt in parts of Bihar as well. At that time, social media was full of videos of people running out of their homes and apartments after feeling the jolts.
