Northeastern Connectivity: Nitin Gadkari Announced A New 25-Km Highway Project In Nagaland

As part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, the government has been working towards constructing new highways and roads all over the country. Improving connectivity in the northeastern states of India is also one of the major focuses of this ecosystem. To achieve the same, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently announced the construction of a new 25-kilometre highway project in Nagaland.

The government is building a 25 km two-lane highway project in Nagaland. The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways recently stated that this highway will be a part of the package. A 25 km, two-lane, hard-shouldered highway connecting Chakabama and Zunheboto is currently under construction.

As per the revelations made by the government, the preliminary goal of this undertaking is to enhance connectivity in the Northeast. Once this highway is operational, Nagaland’s connection with neighbouring states in the northeast region will be improved. It will also deliver adequate, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective conveyance opportunities for all commuters.

In his statement, Nitin Gadkari also declared that the Prime Minister and the government are committed to bringing world-class highway infrastructure to the northeast region and thereby igniting its economic progress.

He Also Talked About New Highways In Maharashtra

On another occasion, the minister revealed that the government is working on building new highways in Maharashtra as well. They are constructing a four-lane Sinnar-Shirdi section of NH-160. This project also includes the construction of the Sinnar Bypass. This project is also part of the Bharatmala Pariyojna.

Gadkari also shared that this new highway will act as a steadfast route for Sai Baba devotees travelling to Shirdi on foot. This project holds strong social significance. According to reports, this highway will also speed up travel between Shirdi and Nashik, two significant religious centres in Maharashtra. Reducing the travel time between these towns was one of the major goals behind this initiative.

The highway project in Nagaland will surely improve connectivity in Northeast India!
