In case you’re struggling to find motivation to go out and exercise, we have a piece that might just inspire you to take a walk on your closest beach. A Norwegian man ended up making the discovery of the century. In a bid to get more exercise to improve his health, he started to walk more. But it so turned out that health was not the only wealth he discovered!
Norwegian Man Unearths Gold From 500 AD
Erlend Bore, who is 52 years old, got a metal detector after his doctor told him to exercise more. In the hopes that the device would motivate him to get more physical activity, he set out with his detector. On his way, he found scraps of metal and a few modern coins but nothing out of the ordinary. Until one day, that is.
On a fateful day, he set out with his metal detector as per usual not hoping to find anything more than what he usually does. But he ended up making the discovery of the century. He, quite literally, struck gold! Just five inches below the surface lay a literal treasure trove!
At first, he thought that these were perhaps one of those cheap plastic pirate treasures. He even entertained the possibility that these might be chocolates in gold foil. However, as it turned out, they were gold pendants from the fifth century AD.

Will Be Exhibited In Stavanger
He ended up finding a total of three gold rings, nine gold pendants and 10 golden pearls. According to a professor from the University of Stavanger, this is being hailed as the discovery of the century in Norway. Since, the 19th century, no such huge archaeological treasure has been uncovered until now.
As per Norwegian law, any items found dating back to or older than 1537 are state property and must be handed over to the government. These gold coins will be displayed at Stavanger.
What an incredible motivation to exercise! Although the chances of you being as lucky might be infinitesimal, you might end up realising that the real gold was the health you built along the way.
