Not Calling Bhaiya To Keeping Attitude In Pocket, A Cab Driver In India Wants You To Follow These 6 Rules As Good Passengers

Step into a cab and you’d expect a customary idol of a deity on the dashboard, the typical musty smell in the vehicle and a chat about the city and traffic situation with your saarathi (driver). But what you’d least expect is a list of rules that you as a passenger must follow during the ride. A Redditor shared a poster of 6 rules listed by their cab driver gleaming in the backseat. And it left Netizens amused.

Cab Driver Lists 6 Rules For Passengers To Follow

Taking the sub-Reddit, r/CarsIndia, a Redditor Your_Friendly_Panda posted a picture of the 6 rules they needed to follow during their cab ride in India. A laminated paper listing 6 rules was pasted behind the shotgun seat for passengers to read and adhere to. The first rule clearly listed that the passenger wasn’t the owner of the cab. The second rule, in context to the first, informed that the person driving the cab was the owner.

“Speak politely and take respect,” is the third rule. The fourth rule in the now viral list of rules was direct: “Put your attitude in your pocket.” It elaborates that passengers mustn’t show their attitude towards the cab driver or be egoistic as they weren’t paying him more money. Lastly, what was probably intended for women passengers: “Don’t call us bhaiya (brother).” Below the 6 rules, was a note in bold that urged passengers to not tell the cab driver to drive fast. Instead, passengers must be on time.

Netizens Amused About The “Bhaiya” Rule

Well, the list of rules certainly left Redditors chuckling. A Redditor commented that most points were fair but wondered why cab drivers shouldn’t be addressed as “bhaiya”. Another pointed out that the driver should have written his name if he didn’t want to be addressed as “brother”. A person joked if they are allowed to show attitude if they are willing to shell more money for it.
