This underrated gem is located in Sikandra, a suburb of Agra, and is the final resting place of Emperor Akbar. The tomb is also surrounded by peaceful, lush gardens that instantly transport you to the Mughal era. What makes it even more special is the mix of Hindu, Islamic, and Buddhist design influences, something that reflects Akbar’s inclusive outlook on religious beliefs. It’s also far less crowded than most tourist spots in Agra.

4. Chini Ka Rauza

Tucked on the banks of the Yamuna River, Chini Ka Rauza is a true underrated gem and a must-visit place in Agra. Built in the 17th century, it’s the tomb of Allama Afzal Khan Mullah, a Persian scholar and poet in Shah Jahan’s court. What makes this spot even more unique is the use of glazed porcelain tiles, believed to be the first time this technique was used in India. That’s why it’s called ‘Chini Ka Rauza’, as ‘chini’ refers to the ceramic work or the porcelain tiles.

5. Mehtab Bagh

Built by Emperor Babur, Mehtab Bagh is a lush garden dating back to the 16th century. Located across the Yamuna, it was designed to offer a perfect view of the Taj Mahal. Moreover, the garden follows a classic Mughal ‘charbagh’ layout, with symmetrical pathways, pools, and fountains. It’s an ideal place to witness a peaceful sunset in Agra. Sounds amazing, right?

Made mostly of red sandstone and marble, the mosque reflects a mix of Hindu-Islamic with a hint of Iranian design influences. It’s also one of the largest mosques the Mughals ever built in India.

Known as the Pearl Mosque, Moti Masjid is a lesser-known and underrated gem tucked inside the Agra Fort complex. Built by Shah Jahan in the 17th century, this mosque is made entirely of white marble. It’s known for its elegant design and quiet charm. Although visitors are not allowed to enter, the view from outside still makes it one of the best tourist spots in Agra.
