Kota—famously known as India’s coaching hub—has a lot more to offer than just textbooks and test papers! In this special episode of Tere Gully Mein, we take a trip through the city’s bustling streets, rich flavours, and hidden gems with none other than Nitin Vijay Sir, AKA NV Sir. From savouring the city’s iconic kachoris and milk jalebis to reminiscing about his student days at the local chai tapri, NV Sir takes us on a personal tour of the Kota he loves. But this episode isn’t just about food—it’s about friendships, fitness, and the heartwarming life of a teacher beyond the classroom.

NV Sir On Food And Fitness

In the bustling streets of Kota, our Tere Gully Mein host joins NV Sir on a morning food trail, starting with the city’s famous Dal Kachori at Suwalal ji ki Kachori and then some Milk Jalebi at Shambhu Mishthan Bhandar. “Let’s go because you said there are more things to eat.” As we navigate through the local flavours, NV Sir shares his approach to balancing food and fitness—badminton, played four times a week with a close-knit group, where business talk is off-limits.

“Every day, my kids ask me, ‘How many games did you play?’ I say, ‘Four.’ ‘How many did you win?’ I say, ‘Zero.’ And they laugh at me every day!” Despite his love for sweets, kachoris, and samosas, he insists that food is a stress buster rather than a diet-controlled affair. In this candid exchange, Kota’s flavours blend seamlessly with stories of friendships, fitness, and family bonds.

NV Sir On How Kota’s Transformation Is Shaping The Future

“Kota ka aaj aur pahela ka roop kaafi badla hai, lekin aatmiyata wahi hai” (Kota has changed a lot over the years, but the warmth and connection remain the same), says NV Sir. Once known for its industrial base, Kota is now synonymous with IIT and NEET preparation, attracting students from all over India and fostering a diverse, cosmopolitan culture. This influx of youth has not only broadened mindsets but also spurred infrastructure growth, with developments like the Chambal Riverfront and improved traffic management redefining the city’s landscape.

“Aaj se aisa samajh lijiye ki youth hai to bahut new technology, new innovation, new mindset, new terminology wo sab leke aate hain (from today, understand it this way – since it’s the youth, they bring a lot of new technology, new innovation, new mindset, and new terminology)”, he adds.
