Pride Month may be coming to an end but the sentiment of care, acceptance and of equality pervades throughout the year and is perennial. Recently, one of the biggest pride events, which is the New York City or the NYC Pride Parade for the year 2023 took place. Millions of people took to the streets to protest for, express, and celebrate the queer movement. Celebrities, political figures, as well as organisations marched towards equality.

NYC Pride Parade 2023: Glimpses From This Year’s March

This year’s pride parade was the 53rd and many millions of people poured through the streets to witness and even participate in the marvel. Even the Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, attended the event.

Many celebrities attended the event and of them was Paris Hilton. She posted a pic on her Instagram account flexing a pose with these iconic drag queens!

And of course, Billy Porter, too, had to be there! He sent an important message regarding the systemic violence that trans people are facing in the US. Many states are passing bills obstructing trans-affirming healthcare and that has negatively impacted the well-being of many trans youth.

Sam Smith was also seen strutting in the march just radiating queer joy!

Many people attended the parade and shared their favourite moments on Instagram, the popular social media platform.

Drag Performances, Celebrities & More

Young and old, people of all ages were at the parade celebrating the struggles that the community has gone through just to exist. And though we have come a long way, there is still quite some way to go.

The Pride walked through Fifth Avenue where the historic Stonewall Inn is located. Stonewall Inn is largely construed as the genesis of the pride movement publicly.

Here are some other glimpses from the parade.

People go all out during pride parades and express themselves to the fullest. This is because, for many people, this is the one place where they can openly express themselves without the sword of judgement and shame.

Even the public library in New York attended the beautiful celebration!
