NYC Pride 2023: From Billy Porter To Yasmin Benoit, All The Queer Icons Headlining The Parade

In case you didn’t know, June is officially Pride Month. It is a month to celebrate queerness and the struggles that queer people have had to face throughout history. And if you’re even remotely familiar with the history of queer people, you’ll know that New York is where it all began. Pride began in New York at the Stonewall Inn. So of course, the NYC Pride 2023 has to be the grandest of them all! Here are all the Queer icons that will be headlining this year’s pride parade.

This year, the pride parade is being headlined by some of the most iconic and prominent queer artists and activists. Billy Porter, the remarkable actor, musician and queer activist, is set to take this year’s Pride Parade by storm!

You will also get to see Yasmin Benoit. She is an award-winning asexual writer, researcher, and activist. Hope Giselle, another major activist from the queer community is set to lead this celebration of queerness. She co-founded the first LGBT organisation at Alabama State University.

AC Dumalo is another prominent queer activist. They are the Chief of Staff at Athlete Ally, an organisation that works to sensitise athletic communities to eliminate homophobia and transphobia. Finally, there’s Randolfe Wicker, a trailblazer in queer activism.

Parade Route & Other Details

This particular pride parade will start at 12:00 PM on the 25th of June. The parade will begin on 25th Street and 5th Avenue and from there, it will move southwards on the 5th Avenue. It will then head west towards 8th Street.

Once the parade crosses 6th Avenue, the parade will continue to Christopher Street and will pass the historic Stonewall National Monument. The march will then turn northwards on 7th Avenue past the New York City AIDS Memorial and will finally disperse in Chelsea at 16th Street and 7th Avenue.
