NYE In Pictures: Here’s How UAE’s Iconic Landmarks Welcomed 2021

As the world bid adieu to 2020, the UAE welcomed the New Year in a grand way. About 33 fireworks shows lit up the skies simultaneously as the clock struck 12. Like every year, the UAE put up a spectacular display of fireworks this year too. UAE’s iconic landmarks shimmered in stunning colors, welcoming the New Year with glitz and glamour.

Here’s a look at how UAE welcomed 2021!

1. The Magnificent Laser Display At Burj Khalifa

The world’s tallest building is always known to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a stellar firework show. And this year was different. With Grand masterpiece of fireworks and lights and laser show, Burj Khalifa stunned us as always. The fireworks and laser and light show were in sync to The Dubai Fountain show for an impressive display.

The world’s tallest tower was lit up in colors of the India flag as the clock struck 10: 30 in UAE, which was 12 am India time. The laser show wished the world a Happy New Year in multiple languages. The show also featured the flags of many countries.

3. Abu Dhabi’s Record-Breaking 35-Min Fireworks 

The Sheikh Zayed Festival in the Al Wathba area witnessed a remarkable record-breaking fireworks display for 35 minutes. Touted as the biggest-ever New Year party in the country, Abu Dhabi’s 35-minute exceeded expectations. The second was for the longest Girandola fireworks show in the world. The world’s first-ever Girandola fireworks show brought in a spirit of hope and positivity among residents and citizens who gathered to watch the grand show.

Four areas in the capital including the Corniche, Yas Island, Al Maryah Island and Al Wathba, witnessed major fireworks displays that began at 12 am.

4. New Year Fireworks At The Global Village

Global Village went all out for NYE fireworks. The skies lit up seven times, and each firework was dedicated to different countries around the world. Guests at the multicultural venue were treated to hourly fireworks, which kicked off at 8 pm, in the Chinese pavilion. The destination hosted six more fireworks until 1am on January 1 to celebrate the New Year in six time zones.

5. Atlantis, The Palm

Legendary band KISS broke two world records while performing at the Atlantis, The Palm on 31 December. Guests watched the performance in a socially distanced fashion from the comfort of their own balconies. KISS broke two records for the highest flame projection in a music concert and the most flame projections launched simultaneously in a music concert.

6. Spectacular Fireworks At Dubai Frame

The World’s Largest Frame put up a spectacular display of fireworks again this year for New Year’s Eve. Visitors enjoyed a six-minute-long firework display to ring in the New Year.

7. 8,500 Kg Of Fireworks At Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah astounded residents and citizens with fireworks in various shapes and themes. The stunning display was hosted near Al Marjan Island. Displaying throughout 4km, the showcase was in tune with musical arrangements for a total of 10 minutes to welcome the New Year.
