The cricket fever all around the world is coming to an end (for now) after some smashing matches and almost 1.5 months of non-stop cricket. India was the host of the 2023 ICC Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup and the sport was celebrated with glitz and glamour in one of the world’s most loved cricketing countries. With many records broken and history created by cricketers, the venues also set the highest attendance record this year.

India hosted the elite Cricket World Cup after 12 years. It was in the year 2011 when our country was the host of this marquee tournament. The Men in Blue successfully won the title and clinched the World Cup trophy that year but unfortunately, the final result was not in our favour in 2023. There were some spectacular performances, group effort, and surprising results as well. Among all the things extraordinary that took place in 2023, one of the biggest highlights is the all-time highest attendance of spectators at the venue country.
Around 1.25 million spectators were present at the stadiums in the recently concluded Cricket World Cup tournament. 2023 witnessed a total of 48 matches including the group stage and the crucial knockouts. These matches were conducted in 10 different stadiums in 10 Indian cities. The tournament of 10 cricket-playing countries battling it out against each other began on October 5 and concluded with Australia winning the title on November 19.
The International Cricket Council revealed that the 2023 World Cup witnessed a total of 12,50,307 spectators visiting the stadiums to enjoy the live matches. Without any doubt, the stadiums were the most crowded on the days when the Indian team played. But that did not impact the number of spectators visiting the stadiums during matches of other teams. There was great demand for the major cricketing teams’ matches such as Australia, South Africa, and more.

Breaking Records All Around!
There have been many comments on sports enthusiasts getting bored of the long one-day matches. Well, the craze of cricket and the huge number of spectators clearly prove how cricket fans still enjoy this format. 2023 was the 13th edition of the World Cup and it was surely a successful one. Interestingly, the broadcasting platforms also witnessed a crazy surge in viewers during the matches. Crores of cricket fans watched the matches on TV and other digital platforms.
Previously, the 2015 ODI World Cup saw a massive attendance of spectators. Australia and New Zealand hosted the tournament and recorded a total of 10,16,420 spectators that year. This year surely reported an uptick in spectators and demand for tickets.
