Ola & Uber Cabs In Hyderabad To Run Without AC To Save Fuel Amid Rising Prices

Folks and tourists in Hyderabad! We have bad news for you. Amid the scorching summer heat, possibly one of the hottest years on record, Ola and Uber cabs in Hyderbad shall run without AC to save fuel amid rising prices. Cab drivers in Hyderabad are seeking at least ₹24 to ₹25 per kilometre to turn on the AC. But currently, the rates are as less as ₹12 to ₹13 per km. Read on for all the deets.

Hyderabad Cab Drivers To Switch Off AC Amid Rising Prices

Why would you hitch a cab instead of an auto? To beat the scorching summer heat right? Shut the windows, switch on the AC, play your favourite song and tune out of the world, while you enjoy a relaxing cab ride to your destination. Well, this may not be possible in Hyderabad. The Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU) announced on March 27 that a ‘No AC’ campaign shall take place in Hyderabad to create awareness about the challenges that Ola and Uber’s drivers face in relation to rising fuel prices.

‘No AC’ Campaigns Launched In Other Cities Earlier

According to a report by ABP Live, TGPWU officials revealed that since businesses aren’t willing to listen to their plight, this action shall now be taken by cab drivers. Hyderabad currently faces a diesel price of ₹98.10 per litre. While TGPW under the difficulties passengers may encounter if the AC is turned off in the peak of summer, the no AC campaign shall continue till the cab drivers’ demands are met. The ‘No AC’ campaign was also launched in other cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Lucknow earlier. Meanwhile, have you heard of Bangalore’s women-only cab service.
