The Egyptian embassy in Muscat has warned its citizens against fraudsters scamming individuals with fraudulent, non-existent jobs in Oman. This comes after a large number of Egyptian citizens had fallen victim to fraudsters involving individuals and tourism companies who promised non-existent jobs after their arrival in the Sultanate. Here’s what they have warned against.
Embassy Of Egypt Warns Citizens Against Fake Job Offers In Oman
Egyptian Embassy, in its statement as revealed by the Gulf News, has highlighted how, according to the new instructions by the Omani authorities, a tourist visa can no longer be converted into an employment visa. People who get an employment visa will have to leave Oman and then enter the country under the appropriate work visa.
This will be based on the legal employment contract. So, the embassy has warned visitors who overstay their tourist visa that they can face a fine for each day that they remain in the country beyond the permitted period. The penalties can also reach OMR500!

Many People Have Previously Fallen Victim To Such Scams
Talking about the fraudulent non-existent job offers, the embassy has warned its citizens that many people have fallen victim to such scammers, as mentioned by Muscat Daily. So, they have asked Egyptians travelling to Oman to exercise caution and to verify employment claims. They must do all of this before they pay their money or travel in order to avoid falling victim to such scams.
Additionally, they have also advised citizens to comply with the entry requirements, which include holding a confirmed return ticket and proof of hotel accommodation while travelling to Oman. They must also ensure that they have sufficient funds so that their expenses are covered throughout their stay until they depart from the country.
So, with such scammers targeting innocent unsuspecting citizens, people have been advised to ensure that they follow all the rules and regulations while travelling to Oman. They must be aware of such too good to be true offers.
