An impressive cricketer, a record-breaking batsman, an inspiration to the world, and a humble personality, Sachin Tendulkar is all that and more. He is recognised globally and has put his impeccable talents to great use. To celebrate his 50th birthday and our 100th Sunday Brunch episode, he joined our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, and shared a lot about his life and his future plans.
Sachin Tendulkar Talked About His Cooking Skills
We are all aware of Sachin’s unmatched talent as a cricketer, but did we know he is an amazing cook as well? We were certainly surprised when he told us that he cooked his wife the most delicious fish curry and rice soon after they got married. However, his wife is not the only one who got to taste amazing dishes prepared by him.
He shared that the most challenging thing he has done in his life was cook Baigan ka Bharta for 50 guys. The calculation that went into deciding the quantity of each ingredient was something he struggled with the most. The number of brinjals, onions, and salt left him puzzled for a while but the meal turned out pretty great. Well, that is some professional-level cooking, and we were really impressed.

He Enjoyed Seafood At First Catch
Next, it was time to indulge in some amazing food at his favourite restaurant, Fresh Catch. Keeping his love for seafood in mind, the spread had some amazing dishes like Crispy Bombil Tawa Fry, Pomfret Hara Bhara Laaj, Surmayi Masala Fry, Crab Meat Butter Garlic, and so much more! Even the sight of these dishes had us drooling.
Once we started indulging in these lip-smacking dishes, Sachin Tendulkar shared an interesting story about Bombil with us. He revealed the story behind Bombil being called Bombay Daak. During British rule, this fish was only available at the docks. Hence, the Britishers started calling it Bombay Daak. Pretty interesting, right?
