Medha Kshirsagar from Hubballi and Sangama Das from Bhubaneswar are software engineers based in Bengaluru. According to News18, the duo got married in Bhubaneswar on November 23. After their wedding, the couple planned to travel to Hubballi, the bride’s hometown, for their formal reception planned on Wednesday.
The couple booked tickets from Bhubaneswar to Bengaluru and then to Hubballi for December 2. However, their plan took an unexpected turn when they faced long flight delays at the airport. Their IndiGo flight kept getting pushed forward from 9 AM on Tuesday all the way to early Wednesday morning. After several hours of uncertainty, the airline cancelled the flight on December 3. Their relatives, who were travelling through the Bhubaneswar–Mumbai–Hubballi route, also faced cancellations.

A Wedding Reception Like Never Before!
To attend the reception in Hubballi, more than 600 guests had already arrived at Gujarat Bhavan. However, the couple could not reach the venue, but the event could not be cancelled either. So, the bride’s parents stepped in with an idea, reported News18. They took the seats reserved for the couple at the reception venue and performed the basic rituals on their behalf. They connected Medha and Sangama through a live video call so everyone could still see and bless them.
The newlyweds joined the reception online from Bhubaneswar, fully dressed in their wedding outfits. Their families placed a screen next to the stage so guests could watch and interact with them. Thanks to some quick thinking, the celebration went on even when the flights didn’t!
