We got to see his old house, watched him lovingly meet his neighbours, visited his school, and saw him cherish many memories. And of course, we also got to learn about his encouraging journey to becoming a stand-up comedian.
How Did He Decide To Become A Comedian?
How does anyone decide to become a comedian? It’s fair to assume that when they’re young, somebody tells them that they’re funny, and then they decide to give comedy a shot. We were curious to know if that was the case with Harsh Gujral. But he revealed that it wasn’t. In fact, he believes that just being funny does not mean you can be a comedian.
Giving the perfect example, he said that just because you can drive fast on the streets of your hometown doesn’t mean you can be a racer. Being funny among people you know and doing comedy on stage are two completely different arenas. He remembers going on stage for the first time, feeling his legs tremble. And even after years and years of experience, that nervousness is still there.
Harsh Gujral’s First Experience Of Performing On Stage
While speaking about his first-ever experience on stage, he recalled getting just one clap during a four-minute act. That one clap led him to make a decision: to at least try pursuing comedy, if not as a career, then at least as a passion alongside his job.
The hustle he’s known for didn’t come only after he saw a glimmer of success in comedy. He remembers that while he was still working full-time, he would sit outside a comedy club in the evenings, waiting for a last-minute call in case they ever needed an artist to perform. That level of commitment is truly commendable and not something everyone can convey.
